Brown Sugar Coffee Overnight Oats (Printable)

Coffee-infused oats sweetened with brown sugar, chilled overnight and topped with banana and toasted nuts.

# What You’ll Need:

→ Oats Base

01 - 1 cup old-fashioned rolled oats
02 - 1 cup milk (dairy or plant-based)
03 - 1/2 cup brewed coffee, cooled
04 - 2 tablespoons packed brown sugar
05 - 2 tablespoons plain Greek yogurt (optional)
06 - 1 tablespoon chia seeds (optional)
07 - 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
08 - Pinch of salt

→ Toppings

09 - 1 small banana, sliced
10 - 2 tablespoons chopped toasted nuts (such as pecans or walnuts)
11 - Additional brown sugar or maple syrup to taste

# Directions:

01 - In a medium mixing bowl or mason jar, add rolled oats, milk, cooled coffee, brown sugar, Greek yogurt if using, chia seeds if desired, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt. Stir thoroughly to ensure even incorporation.
02 - Cover the container and refrigerate for a minimum of 8 hours or overnight to allow the oats to absorb the liquid and flavors.
03 - In the morning, stir the mixture well. If a creamier texture is preferred, add a splash of milk and blend until smooth.
04 - Divide the oats evenly between bowls or jars. Top each serving with sliced banana, chopped toasted nuts, and additional brown sugar or maple syrup as desired.
05 - Enjoy the oats cold, straight from the refrigerator.

# Expert Tips:

01 -
  • No cooking needed—just a few minutes at night and you wake up with a treat in your fridge.
  • The hint of coffee and brown sugar makes these oats taste like a café visit, but cozier.
02 -
  • Once I accidentally used hot coffee and ended up with goopy, half-cooked oats—not great, so always let it cool first.
  • Learning to toast the nuts just before serving transformed the flavor and texture the first time I tried it.
03 -
  • Always let your coffee cool fully before adding or the texture isn’t right.
  • A little salt brings out the brown sugar’s maple-like flavor tenfold.
